Who couldn't be jolly this time of year?! Especially here in North Idaho right now. We just got a fresh batch of snow that is sticking around for awhile and it is soo beautiful! It really makes it seem like the Christmas season. Its been so long since Ive blogged I am about to throw out a whole lot of pics and info. Heres some of the winter fun we've been having:

Santa!! (So sweet, Emma told him she wanted a "jiggly" tooth brush(the electric one), so she is convinced, and fine with that is all she is getting for Christmas:) I love these young years, when they are still so easily made happy with  little toys and simple things)

Decorating up the house

Brandon took the girls into the woods in the back and let them pick out the tree this year:) and I then let them decorate it. It was soo hard for me when I'm so set in my ways about the decor, but I let go, and they LOVE it! Next year, I think we'll have two:) One for them and one for me:)

recap of a crazy week and # 26 , 27 and 28!

Its been a week since I blogged and a lot has happened this week! So I thought Id give a quick recap!
I turned 29 and my hubby gave me the most AMAZE-balls birthday ever! First a sign for my business, which makes me feel so supported in my crazy endeavors!Check it out!

I went and had my free breakfast at Panhandler pies and got serenaded by the whole restaurant(there was 3 tables , but still:)
Macie had kindergarten graduation that day and we couldn't be prouder!! Where did the time go?!

yes, Emma was having fun:)

Then, he arranged for a babysitter and took me to town to 'kill some time'. We realized we had never gone bowling together so i was super pumped to go with him.....only to sadly realize our alley had closed! So instead we went to the lovely Eicharts and had a delicious cider and garlic fries. Those things are to die for!

Then I got blindfolded and taken to .....a SURPRISE party with a lot of my loved ones! What a sneaky little hubby I have! And wonderful!!! I don't have any pictures to put up yet because once again I still cant get the pictures off that darn camera! Thank you to all my friends who helped! It was the best birthday Ive had in 29 years!

This weekend I got to be part of the second Vintage Farmhouse Sale and it was such a success! I have two big pieces that I took that are still for sale.
Here are the before and afters:

This dresser/buffet before:

After, at the sale:
The bottom fits about 48 wine bottles perfectly!
(or 2 -4 baskets, or little curtains)

And after, during the sale:)
I had planned on putting handles on it, but Amy had this great idea. So I went home, printed a stencil and sat there at the sale updating it. What do you think??

And now that it is here in my dining room, I'm tempted to keep it:)

But, alas, it is for sale.
$100 will get it for your home:) SOLD

The other piece is a table that had a veneer top to begin with:

My hubby and my dad redid the top for me, We were going to do pallet boards, but had this cool barn wood looking pieces.

I stained the top and painted and distressed the bottom. And here it is finished at the sale:

$100 will get you this one too! (SOLD)

I love both of these and am sad to let them go. But, who needs 2 kitchen tables?? :)

And lastly, today I opened up a booth at the local 'Crafters Mall'. Here's a sneak peak at my first set up of the space:

Its a pretty small space, so while I'm trying to figure out how to get more furniture pieces in there here's an idea of what you can find there for now:
custom dishtowels, nightstands, chairs, chalk boards, jewelry/memo boards, pin cushions, baby wipe cases, lace jar vases and some decorative dishes.

Make sure you you check it out along with all the other booths at Foxs Fun Factory Crafters Mall on hwy 200 across from the mall!!!

That side table up there is #28 and I didnt get a shot before putting it in my booth! Here is the before:

**UPDATE: It just sold, but here she is:)

ONLY 2 more to my 30 before 30!!! Then what?! ANy ideas??

Valentines decor for free..with a coffee filter wreath tutorial

Decorate for valentines day? What?It seems kind of strange, but I'm always so sad about taking down the Christmas decor that I'm excited to get something else pretty put up. And it gives me more excuses to try new DIY's:) So this year I wanted to do it on a budget. And the budget I decided on was FREE. My favorite kind. I had ALL of this at home already.
First I made a coffee filter wreath. (Easy peasy tutorial down below.) Everyone in blogland is doing these, so thought my house was probably wanting one too. I think I heard it calling for one. Then I made a little string of hearts to put on it, got a few red frames together and ta-da....Valentines.

Oh, but we're not done yet. Emma and I decided to go around the house and find everything that was pink and red and make a little display out of it too. Here were our finds:
We just filled a glass picture and stacked some more on a cake stand.
And here's our little Valentines display for the top of the girls play kitchen, made with Emmas love:)

There are billions of helpful tutorials out there on these coffee filter decorations, so why not one more:

All I did was take one of these wreaths I got at a garage sale(3 for $1!!) , about 125 coffee filters (A pack of 160 at the dollar store), a hot glue gun and sticks, a big fat marker(or any tip)  and about an hour of your time.
I had to use the yarn and scissors to cover the wreath. This one had the plastic taken off, so I put some saran wrap on it. (less mess)
The you just take your marker and gather the coffee filter around it like this:
Then you put hot glue on that whole surface(the size of the marker lid) and stick it on the wreath.(hold for about 5 seconds) Do that all the way around it and that's it!
One thing I learned when I made a lampshade in THIS post was that you can do it with a pretty big tip.(I used a smaller one, and it took waaay too long) You also don't have to have each one touching the next. I leave a tiny space in between and it still fluffs out enough that it looks great. My lamp ended up so tight its crazy! And I used way more time and way more filters than I needed to.

We have also been scribbling hearts and love messages on all our chalkboards at home. So for a whole month....Love is in the air.

Christmas in the desert

The girls had a great Christmas! One of the highlights of it all was their shock when they walked into this:

They didn’t know what to do. I don’t think they quite realized who they were for. They are complete with their names on the license plates and “Princess” plates on the back. They have been riding them around the neighborhood non stop.
They were also just as thrilled every day when the mail came. It was amazing the love we saw in that mailbox in the days leading up to Christmas. Thank you everyone who sent them something. When a card came with their name on it, they ran home, yelling as they opened the door to go show daddy.
What a great time of the year with family and fun!!

And we again ate waaay to much delicious food! Thanks grandma!!!
