10 year reunion?!

Since my last post I have been working on center peices for my 10 year class reunion. 4 days before the event my bestie asked me for some help creating 15 centerpieces for the weekends dinner. I am so not proud of them that I will not be posting pictures of them:) I will however say that they were just fine for the event and were spontaneously given away at the end of the night for "Best of" awards, which I think was their perfect ending.
It was such a blast getting to see everyone again, and at the same time an eye opener to the fact that 30 is approaching and I have a lot of pieces left before I reach my blog goal. So I realized I better start cracking. We had a surprisingly close class in high school, so it really was a blast getting to see everyone and meet new spouses too. I find it so ironic but so neat that we had 8 (that I can think of at the moment) couples from our class who married eachother. Sweet, isn't it? I also had a few people whom I do not see very often say that they have been enjoying following my blog! So for those of you out there, you know who you are, thank you for reading!! I really do appreciate it! (Now please become a real follower on the right side bar here and dont be embarassed to comment on your guilty pleasure:)
So, today there will be no crafty shabby-chic-ing pictures, but a few instead of our great class reunion:

This is just the classmates. Great turn out right?!

Kristine, Jenny, Tasha, me and Alisha

Katie, Michele, Kinsie, Fawn and I
I almost didn't go because my husband is out of town, but I'm so glad I did. Thanks ween for making me:) I hope it's not another 10 years before I see you all again! (Luckily I am still in regular touch with a lot of these great people!)

Crafting on a rainy day

This is supposed to be a furniture blog, but I cant stop crafting!! Seriously, I am out of control. I see something on a blog and I MUST try it! Last night for example............I saw this beautiful (yet easy enough for me) pillow at http://www.thecraftingchicks.com/ and went right to work after the girls went to bed.
The cutting took a little longer than I thought it would, but I was determined to get it done. I finally laid the last petal and looked up at the clock.

Whoops! But I think its worth the late night. I couldnt even sew the hole shut I was so tired. So heres me at 7:30 this morning thanks to my wondeful photographer, 3 year old Emma. Can you tell how in love I am with this pillow????
So after a long night and a hot glue gun burn (with peeling skin:)
Heres she is:

My couch and my bed are already fighting over this pillow, so more to come soon!

And then this morning I had to try out one more thing. This adorable wrist pin cushion. Ive never had one, so now I do.I got this idea from a blog, but now I cant find it for the life of me:(

Crafting withdrawls

So my hubby was just home from work.(He works 20 days on, 10 days off in another state.) I love having him home so much that I cant pull myself away from him long enough to work on any of my projects. They all go on hold for 10 days a month. So the other night while watching the discovery channel with him I just couldn't resist anymore. I was having crafting/furniture/sanding/creating withdrawls!! So, I decided to try my hand at the little fabric rosettes Ive been seeing all over blog world.First I googled "no sew fabric flowers" because I need some help on the sewing machine to say the least. I wanted to make a necklace, but haven't figured out that part of it yet. So my daughter got a new headband for church yesterday. I was so proud of myself for figuring these out. I not only need visual instructions, I sometimes need in-person-visual instructions. I'm not quite sure I did the twisting part right, but I think they look pretty cute!
I need to give credit where it is due, so I will include a linky to this wonderful blog that taught me how http://www.prudentbaby.com/2010/10/no-sew-rolled-fabric-flower-baby.html. I love love love this sight!! I've goptten so many ideas from these lovely ladies! She actually got it at another sight, but I found it thorough Prudent Baby, so go take a looksie!! They got it from http://www.mysparkle.blogspot.com/ . Make sure you check her out too. Now thats some talent!
So here they are!! And thanks to my beautiful model in my sunglasses, Mrs. Macie Grace:

My favorite colors at the moment

Such a good model

Now Im off to do some crafting tonight with yellow and grey. I cant stop dreaming about it! Then back onto the furniture band wagon:)

Something for sale

I've been seeing the most beautiful shabby chic, cottage-inspired, frames, but am not willing to pay the $50 a piece that they cost. So Ive decided to make my own and to make some to sell for others, who like me, love them but just cant bring themselves to pay out their ears;) for them. Heres my first set for sale. A set of three that are for sale on etsy at http://www.etsy.com/people/TrendyNChicBoutique I'm going to make some sets in different colors and also take custom color orders.

This blue one is my favorite. I wanted to keep them for my home once again, but I know I have to let go if I ever want to sell anything.

My husband and I found awhile ago that the first letter of the names of us and our children is BEAM. He always wanted to start his own construction company with that name, but since changing trades, we've decided to call our new furniture/decor line 'BEAM designs'.

My brother and niece from Seattle came and stayed with us this week. We got to have a smore bonfire night, a bbq, a beach day(where we all ended up a little too pink) and some great camp outs in the yard.(I admit only my brother would stay out there with the three chatty girls while the old couple stayed in the house, thanks Matty!) So here they are as my featured blog guests.

The beautiful Mrs. Braedyn Sharee

And her and her daddy, uncle Matt at our beach day

Thanks for the fun you two! We'll be over to visit you soon!!

#5 for sweet Mrs. Addison

I switched gears for a few weeks to try some upholstering. Easy peasy upholstering that is, but something to use my new staple gun on none the less. I wanted to try my hand at a fabric headboard, seeing as it looked like it couldnt get much easier, and my best friend was willing to b my guinea pig, well her daughter;) They are expecting an addition to the family, so Addison is passing down her crib/toddler bed, and moving up to the BIG girl bed!

I painted the legs white and roughed them up a little (I think it adds a lot of character to white....and, ok fine I'm a little hooked on shabby chic-ing;)

After the legs, I wrapped it first in two layers of batting and then the fabric. I also tried to cover the back with a solid piece to hide all my crazy work.
I do think it may need to be a little taller so more of it can be seen over pillows, so Im working on how to make that happen. We picked out the fabric, which i LOVE, but realize now it may be hard to find bedding that isn't too busy. I know Kristine will make it cute though! I think a bunch of different solids or even simple patterns in the same color would be adorable! I am officially in love with my staple gun and am looking at which project I should move to so I can use it again.
Thanks ween for letting me make my first one for little Addy. I think it fits her perfectly!
