I got the wonderful opportunity to make a few things for another wedding this last summer and am finally getting around to showing you:)

 I met the beautiful bride, Katie through a friend and she asked if I could do a few pieces she had envisioned for her wedding. She had such a beautiful wedding with so many creative and beautiful details. I was even more excited when she told me that the amazing Haley Sierra was the photographer! Click on her name for her blog, or HERE for her website. If I had it to do over again, I would FOR SURE have used her. She captures the day so amazingly. I am in awe everytime I see a new shoot she has done!

HUGE Christmas sale

Who couldn't be jolly this time of year?! Especially here in North Idaho right now. We just got a fresh batch of snow that is sticking around for awhile and it is soo beautiful! It really makes it seem like the Christmas season. Its been so long since Ive blogged I am about to throw out a whole lot of pics and info. Heres some of the winter fun we've been having:

Santa!! (So sweet, Emma told him she wanted a "jiggly" tooth brush(the electric one), so she is convinced, and fine with that is all she is getting for Christmas:) I love these young years, when they are still so easily made happy with  little toys and simple things)

Brandon took the girls into the woods in the back and let them pick out the tree this year:) and I then let them decorate it. It was soo hard for me when I'm so set in my ways about the decor, but I let go, and they LOVE it! Next year, I think we'll have two:) One for them and one for me:)

I always cry at weddings

I did some signs for a wedding recently. One that is coming up very soon here, in Hawaii!! So jealous. Someday I will make it there:) I learned a lot with this custom order. I love love love my cricut, but learned how hard it is to find just that right font you want. And buy!! Each font is almost $60! I have since been reading up on buying an attachment that allows you to send anything online to your cricut, but not sure if it works for mine. 

Anyhoo, I cant wait to see these in wedding photos. But for now, here they are:

#30 done! while I'm 29!!

My Internet is not so reliable lately, and Ive been soo busy making making making. I thought I better do this post though to update you all. I realized that all the people that come to the sales and buy my things found out about me on some part of the Internet. Either my blog, facebook or facebook yardsale. So, I better keep up that part:) 

This blog started out as "aprills30before30" and has turned into so much more! I have met so many great people through it that understand my vision and can share in my ideas. I have also gained so many  customers through this venue and I am so thankful. I have a year left before I'm 30 and this is my 30th piece!! Through this blog I have been able to share my family, my love for food and all things DIY and design. I'm thinking about setting a new goal, but haven't come up with it yet. While its nice out and Amy over at Vintage Farmhouse is doing so many great sales shes letting me be part of, I am out in the shop much more than on here blogging!! So in the winter, I guess, I will catch up on my posts:) Here it is though, #30.

 I made it for my niece whos almost ready to make an appearance! McKinley Jean! I will do a post when I have more time on the nursery I designed and did for her! It is so adorable!

One of a kind dishtowels anyone??

I forgot to post pictures of the dishtowels I made at my booth at Foxs. I sold the couple that I made at the last Vintage Farmhouse Sale, so whipped up some more for my booth. How cute are they?? I can also make custom ones(like initials, monograms, you name it:)

Gate Sign

I made another sign this weekend the night before my booth. I didn't take very good pictures during the process, but here she is all done at my booth:) Isn't she pretty?  Its out of an old gate/cupboard(?) door.

I got an order this week for a custom sign and will be starting it this weekend. Its for my adorable friends daughters room....and you are all going to want one. I know I am.

Amy from the Vintage Farmhouse bought this for her daughter for her wedding! Can wait to see it gracing their home.

Pallet coat rack (18)

Here's a quick how to of the pallet Trish and I made in Long Beach a few months back. 'Quick' because that's how easy it is. And I was a horrible picture taker during the process. Her hubby Eugene did the hardest part for us. Here it is before, just a plain old pallet:

He cut off the back half of it for us so it wouldn't be so heavy. Trish wanted it to match the accent wall she did in her living room behind the tv here:

It turns out she only had about an inch of paint left in the half gallon can, but it turned out to be a good thing  and we ended up with a nice distressed look that we were really happy with. I just lightly washed off the pallet and sanded it really quickly just to get rid of the huge sliver parts. Then I took a dry paint brush and put a tiny bit on the brush. I dry brushed the entire thing really roughly just barely covering it. I didn't get a picture if it hung up over her beautiful black cabinet, but here it is after:

    Then you just add knobs, handles or hooks and hang as you wish. Easy peasy and oh so cute.

Nightstand makeover (16)

Part Three in a four project series….

Part 1, a gate turned headboard HERE and 2, a yellow armoir redo HERE.

 Trishs father in law gave her this nightstand awhile back and she wanted to use it for her new room and paint it white. After painting it white we distressed it with some Martha Stewart coffee stain. Isnt she adorable. Trish and her hubby now plan on doing their kitchen cupboards with this same look. Distressed and yet clean feeling at the same time.

We have one more project we did with a pallet she had laying around. I think this is my favorite. But we didn’t have tome to get some holes drilled in it. So…..this one to come soon. Trust me, you’re going to want one.

Yellow Armoir (15)

This is the second peice of furniture we did at my friend Trishs recently. And marks the halfway point of my 30 before 30!!!!
 This large, heavy, old armoire was left in her room by the previous tenants.

 It had so much character Trish just knew she wanted to keep it. We decided to paint it yellow and distress it. After a long debate at Home Depot about this yellow or that yellow Trish won out over my ‘baby poop” yellow choice. The next morning when I went to distress it though, I kind of got my way, on accident(I promise Trish!) I started staining over the paint and loved the look so just kept going and going so much that it kind of turned out a little baby poopy. I was sure Trish would hate it, but she says she likes….so here it is in her room. Its hard to get a good picture of it now that we covered up a window with THIS project. OopsJ

Gate turned Headboard (14)

I went to Long Beach recently to help a friend move. We had a whirlwind weekend trying to tackle too many projects in 2 days. She had been living in a teeny one bedroom apt. as associate pastor at their church. Now they are taking over as lead pastor and were moving into the front 2 bedroom house. She finally got to get her beautiful belongings out of storage and I was happy to help. (Thanks for flying me over Trishy!) We moved in all her things, decorated the living room, repainted 2 pieces and dreamed up and made 2 pieces of our own. Here's the first and my second favorite piece. We get so craft-excited when we finally get together that we throw out like 50 ideas and are complete scatter brains. We were going to make a fabric, tufted headboard for her room, then found one she had in the garage and were going to paint and distress it……and then it happened. This

You see it right? What we saw?? Yep, that old fence piece…..perfect headboard right?

We had her hubby and brother help us cut it down to size and we went to work.

 It was great because her room layout was strange and this solved the problem. Because of where the windows were her bed had to be sideways. And you walked into the side of it when you came in the room. So, if we made the headboard HUGE and tall we could cover the back window and put the headboard there. Yes, this gave her less natural light, but that outweighed the alternative which was the room being unsymmetrical and so not TRISH-SHUAY. We sanded it, painted it gray, then distressed it so that the white showed through. Isn't it lovely??

I'm in love! I want one now:)

Someday we will live in the same town...and then watch out people!! Great things happen:)

A Redo, finally!!!!!!!

Before I left Idaho I bought a piece from a friend that I planned to redo and sell. It was so big I knew my hubby was going to hate LOVE to move it all the way to Vegas:) So luckily when I hauled it home I got a taker right out of the back of the truck. I then offered to help redo it and we got to work. My good friend Alina(Chuchie) was my customer once again. We got to work looking at colors.

There are waaaay too many blues and greens out there.

We got to work sanding every day after work. Stained the top and painted her pretty. After starting to distress it we decided to go on a limb and try the staining over paint technique and looooved the results. She turned out so lovely. Here she is before and after:

We almost left the top after sanding. Isn't it beautiful?

(the only problem being that we were missing a handle on the bottom. I think it made its way into my work bag and we didnt discover it missing until it was all packed away:) So this weekend the mystery will be solved when I unpack)

What do you think?? I think its my favorite piece yet. Its sentimental because it was the last days we got to spend together before we both moved. We had a lot of fun. (8 days til she visits!!)
